Arrival day

Before Day 1. The days here start late and end later, so land, drop your bags and let the first evening be easy.Details
From the airport
Nice airport sits right on the coast, close to the seafront. A tram and buses run to the city, and there are taxis. Pick the one that ends nearest your hotel, and check the route before you leave the terminal.
Getting around
Nice itself is walkable, and a tram crosses it. The rest of the coast is a string of towns along one railway and one coast road, so trains and buses reach most of them without a car. Check the timetable the day before.
Where to sleep
A room in or near the old town, or a few streets back from the seafront, keeps late evenings simple, because you can walk home. Ask about street noise when you book, since the old town has plenty of evening life.
Evening one
Walk down to the water, sit with something cold and watch the bay go dark. Day 1 starts in the old town, a short walk away, so there is nothing to rush for tonight.

Day 1. Menton and Monaco and Monte-Carlo

Departure day

After the last day. Many nights here end late, so leave the last morning loose.Details
The last morning
Keep it slow: a coffee near the hotel, a last look at the sea and a stroll through the market square if you have the energy.
A late flight
An evening flight gives you a free day. Ask your hotel whether you can leave your bags, then walk the old town once more or sit on the seafront.
To the airport
The airport is close to the seafront, so the ride is short by tram, bus or taxi. Leave a wide margin in the weeks of the big festivals, when the roads and trains fill.

Questions people ask

When is the best time to visit Nice?

By average weather from 2021 to 2025, June to September are the best months for a beach trip to Nice. This plan is built for late May, which is a good month. Crowds and prices change through the year, so check them before you book.

How many days does this plan cover?

It covers 6 days in Nice, planned for late May. Each day is built around a small number of stops, with room to rest.

Who is this plan for?

It was planned for most travelers. The pace and the places reflect that, so check it fits how you travel.

Is anything on this plan booked?

No. Places marked "book ahead" need a reservation. Hours, prices and availability change, so confirm before you go.

Can I plan my own days like this?

Yes. Archie drafts a day by day plan for your dates and takes your pace, the weather and who is travelling into account. You can start one from the Archie app.

Can I change this plan?

Yes. It is a starting point you can change to fit your own trip: swap a place, add a day or move the pace.

How much walking is there?

Each day has about 3.8 to 30.8 kilometers between its stops, and 112.9 kilometers in all across 6 days. A short hop is a walk and a longer one a ride. Distances are straight-line estimates, so allow extra for the streets.
