Misión San Javier
The second mission founded by the Jesuits on the peninsula, in 1699, in a valley with a spring and green gardens. The stone church still stands and is still used. Dress modestly, stay quiet inside and park where the villagers ask you to.
Go when Midday, once you have arrived by the early road.
Local tip Go in a car with some clearance if you can, and check the road ahead. Stay quiet inside, since it is a place of worship. Take water and be back before dark.
