Arrival day

Before Day 1. Keep it easy: the Strip is bigger than it looks.Details
From the airport
Harry Reid International is about five miles from the Strip, a short ride by car or rideshare. A rental car is collected at a center off the airport, reached by a shuttle, so allow extra time.
Settling in
Check-in is usually in the afternoon. If you land early, leave your bags with the front desk and start with something close by.
First evening
Walk a stretch of the Strip in the evening and watch the Bellagio fountains, then turn in early. Day 1 starts with the sign at the south end, best done in the cool of the morning.

Departure day

After the last day. Work back from your flight and the morning stays calm.Details
Check-out
The big hotels have long lines at the front desk on the last morning. Use express check-out if yours has it, and ask the desk to hold your bags.
To the airport
The ride is short, but Strip traffic is slow at the start and end of the day. If you are returning a rental car, allow extra time, since the return is a shuttle ride from the terminal.
If you have a few hours
Stay close to the hotel: a long breakfast and a last look at the Bellagio conservatory, then go. Save the long walks for the next trip.
