Arrival day

Before Day 1. Keep it easy: the Strip is bigger than it looks.Details
From the airport
Harry Reid International is about five miles from the Strip, a short ride by car or rideshare. A rental car is collected at a center off the airport, reached by a shuttle, so allow extra time.
Settling in
Check-in is usually in the afternoon. If you land early, leave your bags with the front desk and start with something close by.
First evening
Walk a stretch of the Strip in the evening and watch the Bellagio fountains, then turn in early. Day 1 starts with the sign at the south end, best done in the cool of the morning.

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign

The famous sign at the south end of the Strip. Go early for the shortest line for a photo and the coolest air.

Go when Early morning, when the line for a photo is shortest and the air is coolest.

Local tip The sign has its own small parking lot, which fills up, so a rideshare is the simplest way there. Use the lot entrance and the crosswalk, not the Strip lanes.

A huge indoor garden that changes with the season, and a cool place to be in the middle of the day.

Go when Midday, as a cool indoor break from the heat.

Local tip The garden changes with the season, so it looks different from one visit to the next.

  4. Lunch

    Lunch inside a resort

The big resorts have cafes, food courts and restaurants under one roof, and the air conditioning is half the appeal. Eat near the Conservatory, before the afternoon heat peaks.

Local tip If the group cannot agree, walk the length of one resort once and choose from what you see.

  6. Dinner

A late dinner on the Strip

Strip restaurants book up on weekends, so reserve a table ahead, and eat before the Sphere’s lights come on.

Local tip The big resorts have places for every taste in one building, so you can let the group choose on the spot.

Departure day

After the last day. Work back from your flight and the morning stays calm.Details
Check-out
The big hotels have long lines at the front desk on the last morning. Use express check-out if yours has it, and ask the desk to hold your bags.
To the airport
The ride is short, but Strip traffic is slow at the start and end of the day. If you are returning a rental car, allow extra time, since the return is a shuttle ride from the terminal.
If you have a few hours
Stay close to the hotel: a long breakfast and a last look at the Bellagio conservatory, then go. Save the long walks for the next trip.
